SWORDPOINT - Book 3
90-Day Devotional for Warriors
How do the lessons learned in the mud and grit as an enlisted Infantryman translate to the everyday battles of the Christian life?
For years, I’ve used my experiences—both as an Infantryman and an Army Chaplain—to illustrate and illuminate Biblical principles. Many of you have expressed gratitude for these insights, which I originally wrote as a 365-day devotional for soldiers called Swordpoint in four 90 day booklets. Over time, these writings have deeply resonated with military personnel and civilians alike.
Now, I am excited to make Book 3 available to you in one convenient, downloadable PDF, complete with a link to an audio version so you can listen on the go. (Books 1,2 &4 coming soon)
My hope is that these devotionals will be far more than just an entertaining read. My desire is that they will:
Help you grow in your everyday relationship with Jesus Christ.
Inspire you to glorify God in all that you do.
Build mental and spiritual toughness as we pursue Jesus’s Great Commission together (Matthew 28:18-20).
Here’s a sample:
DAY 10: CAREFUL WHERE YOU AIM THAT THING
For the whole Law is fulfilled in one word, in the statement, “YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.” But if you bite and devour one another, take care that you are not consumed by one another. (Galatians 5:14-15)
My team leader and I snuck through the darkness into the opposing force’s perimeter. They knew something was up and I could hear them frantically communicating with each other. Suddenly, my own team leader began to yell, “They’re in the perimeter, they’re in the perimeter!” The next thing I knew, all three machine guns and other small arms turned toward the middle of the perimeter and opened fire. We had set up a perfect self-destructive ambush. I think Satan is busy doing the same to the Church. Once he’s got us shooting at one another, his battle is almost won. Remember, friendly fire isn’t so friendly.
Call to Action: Guard against “friendly fire” in the Church today by going out of your way to show love and grace to a fellow believer.
(Opposing force: Pretend enemy during training exercise / Perimeter: The outer edge of a defensive position)
